I am NOT really into bags!

Julia Cunningham

Yes, you heard right. I was never a girl who liked bags. Of course I have had a few before I started making them but never found them them that comfortable and I never really found handbags that were me. I like to be different and usually avoid trends. If everyone has one even if I liked it, then its not for me. My business advisor asked what bag designer inspires me. She was rather stunned when I told her I wasnt really a bag person. She thought that hilarious. I like ceramics they tend to be my inspiration. They can be colourful and sculptural which is how I see my bags. You can see the amazing colours especially in the vintage yellow jug. They are all vessels that hold something, just like bags and they have curves that I use in my bags. The boat also has script on it and that is something add to my bags.

I used to work in silver and found I was always adding texture and shape to it. However what fabric has is colour, texture and pattern and I just love to mix them up and use them to create my vessels that hold your treasure. My signature bag the muckle Fantoosh with its chunky handles was where it all started. I made a bag hated the floppy handles and stuffed them and that was it. My business started and I have always had lovely comfortable, colourful, bags since then. I know I will not run into someone else with the same bag as its very rarely that I make more than one or two the same.

I now have a full collection of bags in lots of different styles on my web site which isn’t bad for a girl that’s not really a Bag Person.
